Barbarian Invasions

Foreign invasions led to the fall of Rome. In 370 C.E the Huns invaded the Roman Empire from the east. By 451 they invaded Germany. In 401 the Vandals crossed the Danube. They came into Roman territory. By 409, the Vandals are near Spain. By 429, they cross into Africa. By 439 they conquer Carthage. The Ostrogoths and Visigoths both moved into and attacked Roman lands from the east. The document suggests that the Huns settled for a time from when they invaded the Roman Empire, to when they invaded Germany. The Vandals conquered many former Roman land. This indicates they were conquerors. The Goths appeared to have been forced out by the Huns. Since Rome didn't really have protection like breastplates and helmets, they couldn't really fight back during invasions.
